This past Thursday, October 30th, the residents of Jericho, Vermont were treated to a spectacular light show in the night sky. One of the most amazing displays of the aurora borealis (the northern lights) in years was seen in all its glory. Neighbors called neighbors to report the event and alert each other to the stunning array of red bands of light pulsating overhead.
Wilson Bentley may be famous for his snow crystal photographs and his studies of precipitation but it is a little known fact that for 49 years he observed and recorded aurora sightings from his farmhouse in Jericho. The most spectacular occurred on February 13, 1892.
