Wilson Bentley published his book Snow Crystals in the year he died, 1931. Dr. Ukichiro Nakaya of Hokkaido University started to study snow crystals in 1932 after seeing Bentley's book. Nakaya published his own book, also titled Snow Crystals, in 1954. Bentley's book is a collection of photomicrographs of snow crystals, while Nakaya's, also containing snow crystal photomicrographs, deals primarily with the science of the formation and growth of xnow crystals.
